About Indiana Farm Stands
A seasonal directory of central Indiana farm stands, built around one idea: every listing tells you the date it was last checked.
The problem this solves
Planning a fall trip to a pumpkin patch usually means opening six browser tabs. A directory site lists a farm that closed two years ago. A blog post about "best apple orchards near Indianapolis" is undated. A farm's own website still shows last season's hours. You drive forty minutes with kids in the car and find a locked gate.
The information mostly exists — it is just scattered, undated, and impossible to judge. You cannot tell whether a listing was confirmed last week or copied from a 2019 press release.
What we do differently
Every farm page on this site carries the date its details were last checked, shown plainly rather than buried. If that date is old, you can see it is old and call ahead. We would rather tell you a listing is four months stale than quietly imply it is current.
That date is the product. It is why how we verify listings is a page of its own, spelling out exactly what "checked" does and does not mean.
What's in the directory
Right now the directory covers 84 operating farms across 37 Indiana counties, with 7 crops and seasonal attractions — u-pick apples, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, peaches, and pumpkin patches.
For each farm we track, where the information is available:
- Season start and end dates for each crop, per year
- Pricing model — u-pick by the pound, by the container, flat admission, or free entry
- Weekly hours, including farms whose September and October schedules differ
- One-off closures and late openings that override the regular schedule
- Practical details: parking, terrain, stroller and wheelchair access, dogs, payment methods, whether reservations are needed
- Contact details and a map showing roughly where the farm sits in the state
Farms that have closed permanently stay on the site, clearly labeled. Other directories still link to at least one closed farm as though it were open, and a page that says "this is closed" is more useful to you than a dead link.
Who runs it
Indiana Farm Stands is an independent project, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or paid by any of the farms listed. No farm can buy a better position, a badge, or a fresher-looking date. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on this page before it takes effect.
The site is supported by advertising. Ads are served by Google and are labeled where they appear; they never influence which farms are listed or how they are described. Our privacy policy explains what that means for cookies and your data, and covers the two analytics services the site uses to count visits.
Corrections
If you own or work at a farm listed here and something is wrong — hours, pricing, season dates, or the listing existing at all — email [email protected] and it will be fixed. Visitors who find a listing that did not match reality are just as welcome to write in; that feedback is the fastest way this gets better. See the contact page for what to include.
