Privacy policy

The short version

Indiana Farm Stands has no accounts, no logins, no newsletter, no comment section, and no contact form. We do not ask you for personal information and we have no database of visitors. What does happen is that third parties — our host, our two analytics providers, our advertising provider, and the services that supply map tiles and fonts — receive technical data such as your IP address when your browser requests files from them. One of those analytics services, Google Analytics, sets a cookie in your browser. The rest of this page explains that in detail.

Information we collect directly

None. This is a static website: the pages are built in advance and served as files. There is no server-side code processing your visit, no form to submit, and no account to create. If you email us, we have whatever you put in that email, and we keep it only as long as needed to handle your message.

Server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information required to deliver pages and protect against abuse — including IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and device type, the page requested, and the time of the request. Cloudflare may set security cookies for bot detection. This processing is governed by Cloudflare's own privacy documentation. We do not build visitor profiles from this data.

Analytics

This site uses two analytics services to count page views and see which listings people find useful. They behave differently, so they are described separately.

• Ahrefs Web Analytics sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It records the page requested, the referring page, and coarse technical details such as country, browser, and device type — none of which identify you individually.
• Google Analytics 4 sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by a property ID) that store a randomly generated identifier in your browser. That identifier lets Google recognise a repeat visit to this site and count it as the same person rather than two, and it persists until the cookie expires or you delete it. Google receives your IP address as part of the request and uses it to derive an approximate location; it does not report your IP address to us. We use Google Analytics to see traffic totals, which pages are read, and where visitors arrive from. We have not enabled Google Signals, advertising personalization, or any feature that links analytics data to a Google account.

Neither service is used to build a profile of you, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors. You can opt out of Google Analytics in any browser using Google's opt-out add-on, or by blocking cookies as described under browser controls below.

Advertising and cookies

This site is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertising is how the research behind these listings gets paid for.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices or optout.networkadvertising.org.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on this site and may use their own cookies to do so.

Opting out of personalized advertising does not remove ads — it means the ads you see are less likely to be based on your browsing history.

Other third-party services

Two further services receive a request from your browser when you load certain pages, which necessarily means they receive your IP address:

• OpenStreetMap supplies the map tiles on farm pages. Map tiles load only on pages that show a map, and only from OpenStreetMap's tile servers. We do not use Google Maps and no map API key or account is involved.
• Google Fonts supplies the two typefaces used across the site.

Each of these operates under its own privacy terms. We do not send them any information about you beyond what your browser includes in an ordinary file request.

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland

This site does not currently show a cookie consent banner. The analytics described above load on every page for every visitor, which means Google Analytics sets its cookie before you have been asked. We would rather state that plainly than describe a consent step that does not exist. If you would prefer not to be counted, the opt-outs in the analytics section and the browser controls below both work immediately and without an account.

A Google-certified consent management platform will be in place before advertising is switched on, and it will gate advertising and analytics cookies for visitors in these regions. This section will be rewritten when that happens, and the date at the top of this page will change with it.

Your rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability — can be exercised by emailing the address at the bottom of this page. Bear in mind what we actually hold: there is no visitor database here and no way for us to connect an analytics record to you by name. Requests that concern data held by Google can be made to Google directly, and clearing the cookie in your browser ends the association at our end.

If you are in California

We do not sell personal information for money. However, the use of third-party advertising cookies described above may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA. You can limit it using the opt-out links in the advertising section, or by sending a request to the address below. Analytics data is not sold and is not shared for cross-context behavioral advertising: Google Signals and advertising personalization are off, so the analytics cookie is not used to target ads. California residents also have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising those rights.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience planning family outings; it is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, email us and it will be deleted.

Your browser controls

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers offer a private browsing mode. Blocking cookies will not break this site — there is no functionality here that depends on them, and the analytics and advertising cookies described above are the only ones set on our behalf. Browser "Do Not Track" signals are handled according to each third party's own policy.

Information about farms

Listings describe businesses, compiled from publicly published sources such as farm websites, business social media pages, and public agricultural directories. Contact details shown for a farm are business contact details that the farm has published publicly. If you are a farm owner and want your information changed or removed, email us and it will be done — see contact.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it. There is no mailing list to notify, so the date is the honest signal.
