Winona Lake, Kosciusko
Community Apple Orchard
A nonprofit orchard at Winona Lake in Kosciusko County, on an abandoned 11.5-acre site that volunteers began restoring in 2010 with support from Grace College. 5.0 across four ratings, which is a very small sample. Fourteen apple varieties, grown without synthetic pesticides, sold u-pick by the pound at prices well below commercial orchards. Hand-crank cider presses are free to use, and the orchard runs apple vouchers through a local food bank and has held free gleaning days at the end of some seasons. The catch is access: opening depends entirely on the harvest, and in a short year it has opened on only a handful of dates. Google shows Saturdays 9am to 2pm. Treat the schedule as unconfirmed and call 574-551-0117 first.
