A large third-generation produce farm, garden centre and u-pick operation at Hobart in Lake County, farming around 350 acres. Selling here since the 1940s, when Ethel Johnson nailed a sign to an old oak tree to shift the surplus from the family garden; still run by the Johnson family, with Rodney Johnson Jr as head farmer. 4.3 across 1,117 ratings and open daily 8am-6pm. U-pick runs June to October: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, vegetables and pumpkins, alongside a large farm market and garden centre where almost everything sold is grown on the farm. IMPORTANT: the business has two sites, and u-pick happens at HOBART ONLY. The second location at 718 W Highway 30, Valparaiso is a garden centre with no picking - the farm's own site is explicit about the split, and older directory entries that pair the Valparaiso address with u-pick text are wrong. Johnson's Fun Farm, added in 2017, is a separate ticketed attraction with 40-plus activities running alongside the seasonal festivals: reviewers report roughly $15 general admission and $25 all-access, and at least one notes there is no way to do u-pick on a festival weekend without paying the festival price. Weekdays are the option if you only want to pick. Also a gift shop, bakery next door, train ride (charged separately), field trips and party hire.
