Orchard Hill Farms

A commercial orchard on Lisbon Road near Kendallville, started in 1969 by Dick and Hertha Meyer and reported in 2019 to be one of only a handful left in north-east Indiana. 4.8 across 158 ratings. NOT a u-pick apple operation - the farm states that most of its business is wholesale and that u-pick is not available. The Meyers deliberately set it up that way, not wanting to intrude on the u-pick orchards already operating in the area. What visitors get instead is a retail Orchard Store selling apples across 30-plus varieties, plus peaches, pears, plums, cherries, apple butter, apple jelly, apple syrup, fresh cider and honey. Runs educational orchard tours for school and home-school groups that visitors rate as the best they have been on anywhere, and longer than expected. The Orchard Store is wheelchair accessible, which is unusual among the farms listed here. In the IPM training programme for 25 years, with HACCP certification and GFSI audits. Google lists Mon-Sat 8am-5pm and Sun 1pm-5pm. One customer reports being charged $6 for a 5lb bag and $19 for a 10lb bag - bag pricing does not scale as expected, so confirm the price for your bag size before paying. NOTE: the Noble County tourism board describes a 750-tree block open for pick-your-own cherries in July, which contradicts the farm's own no-u-pick statement; unresolved.
